Adoptable Retired Racehorse of The Day - Raging Meese

Better late than never, we like to say! Today we present to you Raging Meese, aka Bob. Bob is a 5-year-old 16 hand high dark bay gelding with lots of love to give. He raced quite a few races on the New York circuit, and as such is fresh off the track as of last month. He does have a bone chip, but at his low adoption fee, he is well worth the vet and recovery bills! Check out his bio from ReRun's website:

"Bob" is a nice sized gelding that raced a long time on the New York tracks. His last race was this past April at Belmont. Bob was purchased by his trainer after finding out that in September he was found in an auction yard in New Jersey. We eagerly agreed to take Bob for him, and Bob has flourished while with us. His weight has doubled, his feet are stronger, and he enjoys the company of horses again. Currently, he lives in a turnout shed with two other geldings. He is an easy keeper and is up to date on vaccines, teeth and feet. Bob was vetted last month and does have a bone chip in his left knee. He is well worth the time for someone looking for an easy keeper and healthy horse that will be honest on the trails.

Bob's adoption fee is a wee $350! If you're interested in giving this boy a forever home where he can recover from his knee injury and have a light job to do, contact Sue Swart at reruntb@yahoo.com or 315-440-6823.

That's all for today's adoptable equines and reputable rescues! Check back tomorrow for more!

Adoptable Retired Racehorse of The Day - North Flash

We have a gorgeous boy for you from our friends at ReRun; meet North Flash (aka Flash), a 9-year-old, 16 hand high chestnut gelding. Here's Flash's bio from ReRun's website:

Despite his lineage, this beautiful Secretariat look-alike had a not-so-illustrious racing career. Grandson of AP Indy, Flash made 27 Starts with only one win, and career earnings of $20,790.

Flash has screws in his front ankle from an old racing injury and is best suited for trail riding. The perfect parent for him would be someone looking for a horse to love and take long relaxing trail rides with. If that is you, then Flash is your BOY!

Adoptable Retired Racehorse of The Day - Powerful Concho - Adopted

This horse has been adopted!

Carlos is a beautiful 8-year-old bay gelding, standing at a stout 15.3 hands high and he is ready to steal your heart! Located at the New York chapter with our friends from ReRun Inc., Carlos is looking for a forever home with an experienced, light-handed rider. Because of his sensitive, caring nature, many folks perhaps feel that they may not be experienced or light enough in the hand to take Carlos on, but he would love to prove you wrong! Here's his description from ReRun's website:

Carlos is an excellent gelding who is smart and willing, but is only for the experienced rider. He does not do well with riders who have very heavy hands. He prefers a rider that speaks to him through leg and seat. Carlos cribs but never wears a collar. He is easy to work with and has fantastic ground manners. No limitations. He's currently being ridden with an emphasis on dressage, but he can go any way you want!

His adoption fee is a cool $1,500. We think that's a steal given his experience and training.

If you are interested in "Powerful Concho" aka Carlos, you can send any inquiries to Sue Stwart at reruntb@yahoo.com or by phone 315-440-6823 !

Remember to check out ReRun's website for horses from Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and other places. If you can't afford to adopt, you can do your part by sponsoring any number of horses.

That's all for today's Adoptable Horse of the Day. Check back tomorrow for more! :)

A Run for the Roses Welcome

Welcome to the brand new free adoptable equine featuring site called The Morning Feed! We are very excited to be launching our site today, as horse lovers know that the first Saturday in May is always Kentucky Derby Day, or better known as Derby Day! You may be wondering why we have picked today to launch our site, well we have a few reasons -- yes, one being that we love Derby Day and want to share it’s birthday! -- another reason is that we feel passionate about racehorses finding a second path in life after their career is finished on the race course. And what better way to celebrate Derby Day than to also celebrate how versatile horses are --- they can go from a racehorse one day to a hunter/jumper, trail buddy, dressage horse, western pleasure mount or any number of other disciplines.

But this site isn’t just about finding a second career for former racehorses, the site is open to all adoptable equines that are being represented by reputable horse rescues who share our passion for horses.

Have a look around and bare with us, we’re still in the building stages, so the site may look pretty plain currently but over the next couple of weeks we’ll be putting on the Show Sheen to make it sparkle.

Sincerely your founder and co-founder,

Nicole Salo
